I am well at this time through the mercies of my heavenly Farther I hope that these few lines will find you in the enjorment of good health I recieved your letter dated the 19th of June I was truly glad to hear from you In the letter you requested me to go to see a certain individual I acordingly did so I arived there on Tuesday the 11th of July 1855 I found the individual that you spoke of in the enjoyment of good health appeard to be pretty glad to see me had not recieved any letters or papers from you had written two letters to you did not intend to come to Newyork. The Individual wished me to say to you that 𐑇𐐨 never intended to cross the plains again no never does not believe that the Almighty requires it. Says ^𐑇𐐨^ never intends to deny mormonism will suffer 𐐸𐐯𐑉 head taken off first PAGE 2 𐑇𐐨 does not wish any of 𐐸𐐯𐑉 friends to find out any thing concerning of 𐐸𐐯𐑉 and that has been the reason why that 𐑇𐐨 has not been more foward in writing On your receipt of my letter 𐑇𐐨 wishes to know what you will say concerning the matter you will therefore pleas to write to 𐐸𐐯𐑉 and direct the letter to me and I will remail the same and direct it to 𐐒𐑉 𐐓𐐱𐑋𐐹𐑅𐐲𐑌 this is the way that 𐑇𐐨 requests it to be done 𐑇𐐨 says taht 𐑇𐐨 has not written to any person in the vally the reason that if 𐑇𐐨 wrote to one or two only the rest would not like it 𐑇𐐨 says that 𐑇𐐨 believes that you are a man of God never said one word against you or any person else 𐑇𐐨 was unexpectedly very kindly recieved [sic] by her relations and friends. I told 𐐸𐐯𐑉 that I thought that 𐑇𐐨 would change 𐐸𐐯𐑉 mind when it be seen to thunder in the united States 𐑇𐐨 said that 𐑇𐐨 had no inclination to go now if the Lord would make it manifest PAGE 3 that it was her duty to go 𐑇𐐨 would go Altho the signs of the times do not appear the most favourable I think there is a chance yet for 𐐸𐐯𐑉 I have went according to your request and done the best that I could If I could see you I could tell you a great deal more than I can write you informed me that you recieved my letter but you did not acknowledge the reciept of the money for the Mormon Six months which I sent at the same time It was for Mr Golden to be directed to the address L? Golden Williamsport Mary County Tennessee The papers have not come yet Also I have sent to Br Snow two subscribers for the mormon the 1ano Mr Greenfields also myself ^1 year^ and Two of my Brothers six months and Mr Ragsdel 6 months I have recieved 13 No of the Mormon and that is all none of the rest have come on yet I have recieved intelgence from my wife dated May the 31st She states that she was well that the grass hopers done considerable injury to the crops that the soldiers Have taken off some of the women from the valley PAGE 4 XX XXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXX 𐑇𐐨 𐑅𐐯𐑅 𐑄𐐰𐐻 𐐺𐑉 𐐝𐑋𐐳𐐻 𐐸𐐰𐑅 𐐩 𐐷𐐲𐑍 𐐶𐐴𐑁 18 𐐷𐑉𐑅 𐐱𐑂 𐐩𐐾 I hope that you will be able to read this letter as it is not put to gather very systematical. There is great excitement in this country at this time upon the subject of politicks Democracy & Knownothingism engrosses the attention of the people at this time it is to be hoped that the excitement will measurably subsist after the election which will be the 2nd day of August next Cropts in this portion of the country are first rate both wheat and corn as far as my knowle^dge^ extends I pray that you may be blessed in all things that you may set your hand unto in righteousness both now and forevermore Amen To Brother Taylor H.
