She also completed undergraduate work at Oxford University, studying the same areas. Her research interests focus on late 19th-century British literature, and particularly the Sensation novel. Her extra-academic interests include cooking (or learning how), jogging, playing board games, and going to the Art Theatre. She is particularly looking forward to discussing Jane Austen with students in English 210!

Carrie Dickison:
Carrie is in her fifth year of graduate work in English Literature at UIUC. Before moving to Illinois, she lived in Seattle, where she attended and graduated from Seattle Pacific University . Her primary research focus is Victorian Literature, with a focus on art writing and aesthetics. She is looking forward to TAing for English 210 again.

Terra Walston Joseph:
Terra has a BA from Indiana University, an MA from U of I, and, if all goes well, will have her doctorate from the English department here by the end of this academic year.  She is currently completing her dissertation on representations of Britain's settler colonies (mostly Australia) in Victorian fiction and political writing.  Her academic interests include colonial history, gender and women's studies, and gigantic Victorian novels.  While the bulk of her time is taken up with teaching and working on her dissertation, in her spare time she enjoys listening to audiobooks, watching science fiction movies, and learning basic Swahili.  She has had the pleasure of TAing for English 210 twice, and looks forward to a third.

Esther Nadolski:
Esther is in her second year of graduate work in English Literature at the U of I having received her BA in English on this campus.  She will complete her Master's Degree in English literature this fall before pursuing a PhD.  Her primary research interests are British modernism (particularly the literature of the WWI era), gender and sexuality studies, and queer theory.  In addition to her own graduate work and to teaching literature and business-and-technical writing classes, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her dog.  She is excited to be TAing English 210 for the second time.
