Resistivity Survey
Block 3, Lots 1 and 2
with Anomalies Highlighted

Figure 24

Resistivity surveys conducted in 2005 revealed Anomaly A42 in Block 3, Lot 1, shown above, which was the possible location of a past blacksmith shop. The location of this anomaly in the resistivity survey appeared to correspond a slightly higher, relatively level area immediately north of a large double-trunk tree in this area. An additional survey of this area using the Magnetic Gradiometer in May, 2006, showed a high presence of metal, as shown in shown in Figure 33. Such heavy metal concentrations provide data consistent with the presence of the remains of a structure or midden area related to such a past blacksmith operation. Excavations in the area of anomaly A42 conducted in the 2006 field season confirmed the remains of a blacksmith operation in this location.
